What we collect

Name That Match is designed to be privacy-friendly. You can play every puzzle without an account or login.

  • A random anonymous session ID stored in your browser (localStorage)
  • Your scores and game history (stored anonymously on our server)
  • Your streaks, settings and theme preference (stored in your browser)
  • If you choose to create an account: your email address and your game history linked to that account
  • With your consent, anonymous analytics (see below)

Cookies & analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which puzzles people enjoy and where the game can improve. It only runs if you choose Accept on the cookie banner - until then, no analytics cookies are set. If you choose Essential only, Google Analytics stays off.

Essential storage (your session ID, streaks, settings and login state) is always on - the game can't work without it, and none of it is used for tracking or advertising.

You can change your choice at any time via the Cookies link in the footer of every page.

What we don't do

  • No advertising or advertising cookies
  • No selling or sharing your data with third parties
  • No location tracking
  • No personal information required to play

Accounts

Accounts are optional. If you sign up, we store your email address and link your scores, streaks and badges to your account so they sync across devices. You can ask us to delete your account and everything linked to it at any time by emailing us.

Push notifications

If you opt in to daily reminders, your browser's push subscription is stored on our server solely to send you notifications. You can revoke this at any time through your browser settings.

Third parties

We use Vercel for hosting, Supabase for our database and authentication, and Google Analytics for opt-in analytics. No data is sold or shared with advertisers.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at any time - just email us. If you play anonymously, clearing your browser data removes your local history and disconnects your anonymous server records from you.
